My drum broke after 100 hours of use. The machine is fast and I am using the drum for concrete grooving using your CF2128 cutters. Am I doing anything wrong?

Your SPS10 machine is operating at the fastest removal speeds for flailing – up to 2500 RPM, the fastest operating speed for this class of machine. SMITH equipment is well-known to be engineered and built to operate safely at the fastest RPM speeds.

These machines are heavily used and are designed to "beat" or flail the surface when using a flailing drum. Uneven surfaces and undulations cause the drums to contact the surface – and with repeated contact from heavy loads – may break apart. Components can wear quickly, especially when they are driven on the drum (front wheels off the surface) for maximum removal speed but shortest component life.

When operating equipment to the extreme, it requires frequent maintenance. You may also consider using the next size perofrmance class of equipment, the SMITH FS3 Series.
