SMITH SR25 Sulky Driver

Why you need to dump your line driver and lazy driver to get the SMITH SR25 Sulky Driver now!

For those of you who thought they found an easier way to get their employees to push a paint striper across a parking lot or roadway learned otherwise at the 2015 National Pavement Expo in Nashville. At the NPE exhibit hall, stripers were lined up to see just how easy the new SMITH SR25 is to control the speed of painting stripes or removing lines.

The drivers they currently own use a dual pedal system, where the operator has to point their toe or flex their heel unnaturally to control forward or reverse speeds. Therefore, the consistency of any sprayed marking material or removed stripe will not be maintained over short or long distances.

SMITH SR25 dual-pedal system

Because the operator has to apply an unnatural foot stretch for long periods of time – often with cramping muscles – it is impossible to assure the stripe applied at the beginning of the job at the right thickness, or removed at the right depth, can be maintained throughout. Ballerinas have to train for years to be able to get on point for a 2-hour performance, but how do you prepare your muscles to stay on a line pointer throughout an 8- hour day at exactly 2.2mph with a perfect 62 degree pitch? That’s really stretching your foot, ankle and calf muscles to the breaking point.

Not easy!

The SMITH SR25 simple-pedal system performs naturally with simple heel pressure at rest, much like driving a car. So, striping or removal speed is set without any effort, and can remain effortless all day long. This translates into happy employees who actually enjoy the work, and happy customers who get the stripe you promised, and happy estimators with numbers that can be delivered time and again. The pedals alone make it a winner, but there is so much more that make up the SMITH SR25 that you really can’t afford not to own it now.

An operator can work all day long without profusely sweating with a sunshade protection, and go all night with dual LED directional lights to help you see exactly what you’re doing and where you are going without blind spots.

If you need to reach a worker on the job, their phones will always be charged in the handy cellphone charger. What’s more, any other electrical component, such as a counter or laser pointer, can be plugged into the front control center, neatly protected under the seat inside the convenient protected storage box.

SMITH thought of every operator convenience, including an LED rear flashing light, a safety kill seat switch, and electric key start within easy reach. The seat is supportive and supple, and can be adjusted back and forth for any size operator. Attaching any walk-behind striper or grinder with handles to the adjustable ball hitch is a snap.  And if the driver gets thirsty, dual cup holders on both sides of the seat hold the largest soft-drink cups – even Big Gulps – right where they need to be.

A rear tow bar can pull any supplies within payload capacities, and is positioned to prevent tip-backs.    Working on the machine is also a snap, with all components built in-line with an outer chassis that can lift off to work on the hydraulic drive components. A 7HP engine sits sideways conveniently behind the seat for easy access for any required maintenance or re-fueling, and is protected by the tow bar frame for transport. Because the engine cleverly sits sideways, it saves 6” on your pickups or trailers for carrying even more job supplies.

But that is not the only reason to dump your existing driver for the SMITH SR25. The clever designers at SMITH made the SR25 in heavy-duty stainless steel, so it will look just as sharp in 10 years as it does the day you receive it (notwithstanding a few errant paint sprays from jobs) with no rust.

How much does it cost to own the latest and greatest SMITH SR25? A lot less than you think. However, not owning one now may cost you more than you realize after your competitor gets their hands on one before you do!
